The Eric Gill Series Exhibition
World-leading font company Monotype set up an exhibition in Brick Lane to showcase the type designs of Eric Gill. The seven-day exhibition saw many people pack the space of the Old Truman Brewery and celebrate the past and future of ones of the most acclaimed typefaces. What’s more, Monotype added new weights to make the typeface families more complete. They have also released the Eric Gill Series – a collection of more than 75 fonts to give designers more choice.

Graphic Design Festival Scotland 2015
The annual Graphic Design Festival Scotland brings together creatives and studios from various disciplines to engage in discussion and debate on creativity, innovation, and design thinking. The GDFS 2015 also gave everyone an excellent opportunity to experience a week full of intensive workshops, talks, competitions, urban murals, and exhibitions covering all aspects of graphic design and where it was headed. Our director, Marcroy Smith, also participated in their panel discussion. Not to worry if you missed it, here’s a quick recap!

Almost forgot to tell you that we also had a nice chat with the GDFS organisers, Beth Wilson and James Gilchrist. To gain an insight into what got them interested in running a design festival, click here.

Letterform Live
We’ve all long been fans of both Grafik and Monotype and together they bring us a series of live events dedicated to one of the most fundamental elements of good design, Letterform. People of Print also joined the type experts for the previous Letterform Live and we have to admit that it went down really well. The next Letterform Live is scheduled to be happening on Wednesday 27th January 2016. You can now grab a ticket here.

The Liverpool International Festival of Psychedelia
The Liverpool International Festival of Psychedelia is a pan-continental celebration of audio-futurists, operating at the bleeding edge of today’s psychedelic renaissance. In September, Liverpool’s former industrial heartland beats once more, from motorik throb to shimmering drone, the event serves as a kaleidoscopic celebration of our global psychedelic village. Our much-loved Heretic Studio have also collaborated with Sonic Boom in the project, Animorphia, an experimental piece in print, light and sound which was displayed at the event in 2013.

Type Tuesdays
Type Tuesday is an evening of print-related talks and panel discussion hosted by John L. Walters of the prestigious Eye Magazine. Packed with informative speakers, Type Tuesday allows participants to delve deeply into the lives and cultures as well as both practical and theoretical issues surrounding contemporary graphic design. On the final day of ‘The Eric Gill Series’, Monotype and Eye magazine also co-hosted an informal evening of type and conversation in The Old Truman Brewery. It was such a successful event, but still, we’re hoping for more events like this to add to our yearly calendars of course!
