One of the key graphic artists behind European skateboard powerhouse Polar Skateboards, Jacob Ovgren’s work is ‘Skate-art in it’s purest form.’ Predominantly reflecting his crude adolescent humour, Jacob’s artwork reflects ‘snippets of a story’ depicting characters ‘trapped in a dialogue only with themselves.’ Exhibiting with Beach London, Jacobs first solo upcoming show ‘SEX’ (Sick Emotions X-ibit) showcases his new drawings, paintings and prints reflecting his trademark dark humour as they visualize ‘child-like characters in a range of disturbing sexual scenarios.’ Feature

Alana Dee Haynes is an artist that’s currently based in New York. After taking photography classes at the age of 15, Alana started turning ‘messed up prints’ and extra photos into art by making collages and drawing on them. Developing this technique into a definitive style, the talented artist’s current work depicts her ‘vision of life to the world’ as she captures expertly placed patterns over (commonly) high-fashion photography as she elegantly visualizes her imagination across her combined interests in media. This female duo from Israel present their work for the first time in the UK. The culmination of a close collaboration between art label NO WAY (London) and artists Aviya Wyse and Yaeli Gabriely (Haifa), the exhibition showcases the pair’s photographic, installation and video-performance work at one of East London’s best established galleries. The first issue of ‘TALC’ magazine titled ‘The Postmodern Issue’ is an 84 page glossy magazine, which includes a pull out poster together with interviews and conversations with ‘TALC’s’ heroes as well as essays on sections of uncoated paper throughout. The publication has been designed as a “visual stimulus” for modern times whilst filling a gap in the adult market through its use of “compelling imagery and smart editorial.” With the correlation between the female form, design and engaging photography from beginning to end ‘TALC’ has been able to refresh and update the ideas of adult publishing. I can’t deal with that.” She shoots on a Canon 1000d which is her first ever camera and she “shoots women, be it fashion or nudes because [she] enjoys it and women are sexy. I’m not sure how much this tells you about him, but he has a fantastic collection of raw photographic images which give you a sense of the life that he leads. I love the freedom and honesty that exudes in his style and content of imagery. He’s touching some of those awesome buttons with his photography that my brain didn’t even know about, he is featured in Nudity Today and is on of my favourite skateboarders. Feature

Cookie D’oh began when pals Annu Kilpelainen and Hannah Weeden found themselves working part time together at a biscuit factory. They began by making cheeky biscuits for one another, and as their creations grew, they began to collate their efforts online, which has developed quite a following. They’ve just made some super sweet snacks for Lazy Oaf, Vice, and The Haggerston Espresso Room, and at the end of the day, who isn’t won over by a witty tie-dyed biscuit? Feature

The port city of Haifa is home to some of the best street art in the world. A big part of the Haifa scene from day one, Broken Fingaz crew, a collective of artists who do brilliant graffiti works, T-Shirt designs and illustrations, was founded in 2001 by artist Unga, who, along with some friends who shared a love for bizzare and colorful images. Since then they are recognised as one of the premier names to come out of Israel’s scene, and have been touring the globe exhibiting and painting the streets of cities such as London, Paris, Berlin Vienna, Beijing, Phnom Penh, Tokyo, Milan and more. It was during these trips that Unga starting taking pictures, initially as an important part of documenting their often ephemeral practice, but later also a visual blog, a way of experiencing some of the group’s idiosyncratic adventures and travels.
