Century: 100 Years of Type in Design

posted by Anna Chayasatit April 30, 2014

As part of the AIGA’s celebration of its centennial, Monotype and Pentagram’s Abbott Miller are presenting ‘Century’, an exhibition that celebrates the role of type in design and its impact in modern communication over the past century. With gathered rare selected typographic designs, unique works, posters and drawings from the US and London, the walls and ceilings of the exhibition have also been dotted with hundreds of typographic periods drawn from the Monotype library. What’s more, the event will include a series of creative presentations, talks, lectures and workshops. The show starts tomorrow at the AIGA National Design Center in New York and will certainly enrich our understanding of both past and present-day typography.

Partners:
Monotype, AIGA, Pentagram, Mohawk Paper, The Type Directors Club, Condé Nast, Hamilton Wood Type & Printing Museum, The Type Archive, The Herb Lubalin Study Center at Cooper Union, Alan Kitching and The Museum of Printing.
