‘Closed Worlds’ Exhibition & Typeface by Pentagram

posted by Anna Chayasatit April 19, 2016

What do outer space capsules, submarines and office buildings have in common? ‘Closed Worlds’ is an innovative exhibition at the Storefront for Art and Architecture in New York that explores closed systems in architecture. Working in close collaboration with curator Lydia Kallipoliti, Pentagram’s Natasha Jen and her team have created a show that sheds light on the ideas of how each closed system is conceived as a self-sustaining physical environment; how it is set apart from its surroundings and uses its own matter and energy to function.

Featuring 41 living prototypes for the ecologically regenerative systems, Pentagram Partner Natasha Jen and her team have successfully put together an intensely compelling exhibition design that is also ‘a closed system in itself’, complete with its own custom typeface called ‘Closed’, display methodology and organisational structure.
