DON’T JUST STARE, a trailblazing series of events, talks & workshops exploring the connection between Mental Health and the Arts, will launch this Sunday 20th September with an event at the Red Gallery in Hoxton, London. Statistics show that a quarter of us will experience a mental health issue in a given year, yet medication is often considered by mental health professionals before exploring and without conjunction with other avenues. Creative outlets, as offered by arts therapies and artistic exploration can provide us with a greater sense of choice and freedom than medication or conversational therapies.
With this in mind, DON’T JUST STARE aims to explore mental health & break down the stigma that mental health sufferers face through creativity. We aim to innovatively connect creatives and their audience through a series of events and workshops to raise awareness of mental health issues and to offer a creative outlet for those it affects. The launch at Red Gallery, Hoxton invites the public to engage in an evening showcasing 3 Artists, 2 Musicians & 1 Speaker as an introduction to an ongoing project.
