GraphicDesign& / The Golden Meaning

GraphicDesign& is a publishing house that focuses on creating beautiful books that seek to connect graphic design with everything they can and explore the value of those relationships.

Founded by Lucienne Roberts and Rebecca Wright, GraphicDesign& takes the Bliss Bibliographic Classification system as it’s inspiration to create their great books.

The first publication was called Page 1 and served as a typographic experiment. 70 international graphic designers were handed the same brief, to design and layout the first page of Great Expectations by Charles Dickens.

Now their latest book tackles mathematics. Called the Golden Meaning, the book considers what is often referred to as the ‘divine proportion’.

55 designers, typographers and image-makers, including Ian Wright, George Hardie and Hort, again got the same brief, to communicate, explore or explain the golden mean. The book is printed in one colour, gold, of course, and incorporates gold and holograph silver metallic foils.

The Golden Meaning is a glorious addition to the bookshelves of designers, mathematicians and just about anyone.
