Wellcome Images

posted by Emma Fisher February 6, 2014

For the first time the Wellcome Collection have announced that over 100 thousand images are now freely available on their website to view and use for both personal and commercial use. The images have been sourced from their huge archive ranging from, science, magic, and the surreal, to pictures, paintings, etchings and engravings. The collection includes early photography, advertisements and paintings from names as famous as Vincent Van Gogh and Michaelangelo. The earliest image dates back to the Egyptian period, a 3,000-year-old prescription on papyrus, to the most modern microscopic photographs. The wealth of images record centuries of human culture and exploration about the world around us.
