HTTPrint: Turn Your Browsing History into a Newspaper

posted by Kate Hollowood October 19, 2015

A new Google Chrome plugin can turn your browsing history into a beautiful, printable newspaper. HTTPrint, a diploma project by ECAL design graduate Emilie Pillet, collects data on the websites you visit, including the URL, how long you spend on each site and the content you look at. The program then transforms this data into graphs that are scaled to illustrate how long a page was viewed for. The result can be printed out at home or into a print-on-demand newspaper.

The tool can help us work out how and where we spend the most time online – which could be the first step to curbing any unhealthy cat video or Facebook stalking habits. It could also be used by brands to help them assess how people interact with their sites. It’s a great example of print and digital tech working together to create something that’s both useful and so pretty you want to keep it.
