Kangan Arora

posted by Anna Chayasatit November 9, 2015

A bright new era of indie-craft movement was dawning in the heart of East London as the Renegade Craft Fair kicked off on Saturday at The Old Truman Brewery. November events in London begin with an infinite number of annual Bonfire Night fireworks across the capital and Renegade Craft Fair was another event that truly warmed our hearts. Amongst other stalls selling an array of ceramics, stationery, jewellery, and housewares, I was delighted to come across housewares designed by Kangan Arora and I have to say her collection does reflect her commitment to making designs with highest standards.

We last featured Kangan Arora in early 2014. It’s been almost two years now and Arora has indeed expanded her design collection. Kangan Arora demonstrates how Indian heritage can be interpreted. Patterns and vivid colour palettes remain the key elements of her design practice but what’s new is the ability to apply them into new products such as hot water bottle covers. Wandering through pop-up markets on a Saturday afternoon is always a good experience. It’s good to be reminded that local trade and community values are not being eroded. And of course Kangan Arora is another shining example.
