Amelia is currently working as a freelance artist and illustrator. Working through drawing, using pen, ink and water-colour, Amelia creates delicate and highly detailed animal illustrations. You can check out her brand new website to order personal commissions too!

With an interest in capturing surreal, fantasy-inspired scenarios, her work takes inspiration from the playful illustrations of children’s literature and ancient medieval bestiaries. Recurring imagery includes the elephant and the butterfly, two highly contrasting creatures. Juxtaposing these two animals creates an unexpectedness. A strong sense of playfulness is present within the drawings, yet a subtle darkness pervades the imagery, which can be seen when the work is examined upon closer inspection.
