Born in Uruguay, Fermin Guerrero is a passionate Grapher Designer and Type Designer. After completing his BA in Industrial Design at Escuela Universitaria Centro de Diseño – Uruguay, he moved to Switzerland to study Visual Communication at the Haute École d’Art et de Design (HEAD) – Geneva, where he received his BA with first class honours. He subsequently went on to complete a Masters in Typeface Design at the University of Reading–UK, receiving his MA with Distinction in September 2015. All this studying, practising and refining his art won him several prestigious graphic design commissions for his international clients with his work also being featured in a variety of design publications.

Having always been attracted to letter-shapes, typography became a central element of his work. Whether he is creating a poster, a CD cover or a visual identity, the solution frequently comes through a typographic approach. His interest in typography made him feel that it was not enough to use just existent typefaces. Therefore, he decided to start creating display typefaces, as a way of not only experimenting and having fun, but also learning about the typography creation process in an empirical way. He has not stopped creating typefaces since then.

“I am an ambitious designer that sees challenge as the fuel of improvement. This keeps me reinventing myself and producing work that stands out among the international design community.” – Fermin Guerrero
