Yunus Ak’s 16×12

posted by Beatriz Camargo August 15, 2017

Yunus Ak is a graphic designer based between Istanbul, Turkey and Porto, Portugal. He graduated in graphic design at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in 2013, and is currently pursuing his MA in Communication Design at ESAD Matasinhos.

Yunus’ describes his work as being “driven by my own personal memory which structured consciously or unconsciously from everywhere I travel and see, everything I read and taste”. The designer is mostly interested in writing and typography, and therefore focuses his practice on editorial design – also finding time for self-initiated projects. Currently, Yunus is working on his final thesis about “format of the book”, a self initiative postcard project called “16×12” which experiments with composition and layout, a different approach from the standard grid structures in a graphic design work. Other typical graphic subjects such as typography, geometry and colours are also used as the main tools.
