The London Illustration Fair 2015

posted by Mel Luff December 2, 2015

Founded by old school friends Alastair Eland and Sam Bennett in 2013, The London Illustration Fair is a celebration of contemporary illustration, graphic design, printmaking and independent publishing. Encompassing the creativity and enthusiasm of the industry, the interactive event brings together both buyers and artists giving visitors a chance to meet their favourite artists and, of course, discover new favourites.

Run by Alastair, Sam and Holly, this year’s fair is taking up residence in the Bargehouse, a four storey warehouse on Londons famous Southbank. Showcasing the work of thirty up-and-coming illustrators selected by an ‘esteemed judging panel made up of some of the UK’s leading figures in the illustration and graphic arts’: Colin McKenzie – Director of The House of Illustration, Helen Parker – Head of illustration at Blink art, French illustrator and art director Malika Falvre, Rachel Williams – co-founder and publisher at Wide Eyed Editions and Artist Camille Walala.

Alongside the artist’s stands there will also be pop-up shops displaying a diverse array of prints and products from a selection of handpicked publishing houses, creative agencies, illustration collectives, print studios, designers and makers.

These will include: Wide Eye Editions, Laurence King, Outline Editions, Boxer Books, Puck Collective, Material Gallery, Super Superficial, Art on a Postcard, Yuck Print House, Unlimited and Scout Editions to name a few.

Drawing inspiration from the industrial architecture of the Bargehouse, the Fair will also boast ‘site-specific, immersive installations and one-off murals’, workshops, artist-led talks, live music and a fully stocked bar.
