NorBlack NorWhite

The description on NorBlack NorWhite’s website reads as follows- “Creating Art inspired ancient practices, NorBlack NorWhite designs and documents through adventure, exploring and paying respect to India.”

Of course they do much, much more than that. Part indie label, part visual documenters and part craft revivalists, Amrit Kumar & Mriga Kapadia’s indie fashion label is a journey into discovering some of the best-kept secrets involving traditional Indian craftsmanship from remote Indian villages. Indian by birth but based in Toronto for the most part of their lives, the two founders have now made Mumbai their home. They believe the creative process is as important as the final finished product and travel around India, working directly with artisans in creating and experimenting with traditional Indian dyeing and printing techniques and documenting the journey as they go along. Their interpretation of an urban fashion sensibility that retains a uniquely Indian essence is what sets NorBlack NorWhite apart.
