Diane Meyer

Santa Monica-based artist and photographer Diane Meyer creates an impressive collection of images that have been obscured by a layer of embroidered pixels. She distorts sections of her original photographs taken at various points in her life then enhances them with embroidery to remind viewers that there are hidden truths behind each image. Meyer tries to reflect the failures of photography and to portray the relationship between personal collections and nostalgia. Her project reminds us that photographs not only capture one moment in history, but they also obscure the reality of the moment before and after.
