After seeing Eric speak at Here, the annual It’s Nice That symposium, I had to check out his UK solo debut, ‘Sticks and Stones’ at Paradise Row. At Here, Eric spoke about the polar approaches to his work. Perfectly demonstrated between what his mind would think about his art, and his groin…

I can’t do it justice to replicate what he said here but his art is still comedic and thought-provoking even without his commentary. Using coloured pencil, Yahnker’s work is vivid, large scale and satirical. Constantly commenting on the semiotics of contemporary American culture and politics. He navigates the muddied waters of what recent US affairs have meant to him at home in LA and to the rest of the world.
