Spring has finally arrived after a long cold winter, and there is sunlight at the end of the tunnel. As the days are slowly getting longer and warmer again, London based multi-disciplinary conceptual artist Max Siedentopf is celebrating the start of Spring with a new photography series; Pleasure Portraits.

With the arrival of the new season it’s finally time to enjoy the first ice-cream of the year. “Spring was approaching and all I could think about was ice-cream,” says the artist. He continues; “Just like everyone’s personality is unique, so is our favourite ice-cream flavour”Pleasure Portraits depicts a series of characters matching all kinds of different ice-creams. Each one is unique to the colours, taste, and design of the ice-cream.

At the start of the project, most importantly, Max had to test every single ice-cream available to find the best shapes, colours, and flavours. From here, each ice-cream was matched with a different character, with the aim to have the ice-cream and the person’s personality match as much as possible. Finally, the only thing left was to paint their face in the ice-cream’s style, and take a photo.

Max is currently working on a series of new sculptures, some videos, and a magazine; “definitely nothing with ice-cream for a while”.

Get outside and enjoy a nice ice-cream.
