PosterLad is a graphic design project by Czech designer Vratislav Pecka. Through the project, Vratislav aims to reinvent the perception of posters. “A poster does not have to always promote a product or an event” says the designer. Instead, he uses the medium to express his design ideas and unique thinking in terms of approaching poster design as fine art. Using simple shapes, geometrically aligned layouts, organically shaped lines, and vivid colours, Vratislav’s posters are all about pleasing the viewers’ eye; “Because the world needs good looking things”.

PosterLad started out as a side project back in 2016; busy working on design commissions, Vratislav wanted to start something of his own. Designing a new, unique poster almost every day, with an obsessive attention to detail, the project gradually became popular on social media. Always pushing the imagination to its limits, both the designer and the project itself are constantly evolving.

Vratislav finds an endless source of inspiration in everything retro, be that old VHS cases, 90s graphics, clothes, and even the music of the era. A strong influence of Bauhaus is also clearly evident in his works.

Whilst studying Video Editing and Animation, Vratislav found his passion elsewhere; in graphic design. He freelanced for more than a decade after setting up his own graphic design studio with his sister. Shortly after, Vratislav started the PosterLad project, and after years of making his way through the art industry, the project won the Silver A’Design Award in Italy and the German Design Winner Award.
