De Kijm & Zonen

posted by POP Members March 30, 2020

Creative studio De Kijm is an executive printing house based in The Hague, The Netherlands. Their eighty square meter studio consists of screen printing equipment for paper and textiles, a 1971 Heidelberg windmill for ink, foil and dye-cutting, an A3 Risograph with 40 colours, an A2 Risograph with 6 colours, a Ricoh C7200x five-colour printer, various finishing machines, two desks for three men, plus a few paper and ink racks.

The name De Kijm ‘en Zonen’ (and sons) represents a long history of a graphic family business. The creative owners; graphic artist Steven van Bodegraven, and designer Thomas Klaui, started De Kijm in 2009 after graduating from the Royal Academy of Arts (NL). Beginning its roots in a garage that could just fit a screen printing table and an exposure unit, the duo began to develop their interest in other printing techniques, expanding their studio and machinery over the years.

Always pushing the limits of printmaking and creating experimental tools themselves, the artistic background of Thomas and Steven is visible in every aspect of their studio. They are currently creating an online duplexing concept to combine different kinds of exclusive paper types, printing techniques and finishing options. From experimental Risograph art prints and zines, to white and fluorescent toner printed packaging, and high-end business cards and screen printed tote bags, De kijm is a resource for all creatives.
