Sam Selley is a Yorkshire based queer artist working across a variety of printmaking techniques including linocut, screen print, Risograph, and intaglio printing. Their work often focuses around folklore and the natural environment, as well as bringing unusual combinations of objects, beings, and environments together.

As a queer artist, Sam uses screen printing as a way to make queerness more visible, printing slogans onto brightly tie dyed t shirts. They also experiment with traditional printmaking techniques, pushing the boundaries of what is possible with an emphasis on sustainability and the use of environmentally friendly materials. Sam has also recently been exploring this concept and repurposing everyday objects by using tetrapaks as a printing plate and a pasta machine to print.

Alongside their own practice, Sam facilitates a variety of workshops with sustainability as a key focus, and also frequently works with young people with SEND. They are passionate about facilitating opportunities to allow everyone to have the ability to express themselves and fulfil their creative potential. Participation and engagement with the arts is something that they are keen to facilitate to as diverse a range of people as possible.

Sam has travelled the country running a variety of printmaking workshops as well as participating in a variety of print and zine fairs, and enjoys the ability to explore new cities, gain new sources of inspiration, and connect with other creatives whilst hoping to make printmaking more accessible to a wider audience.
