Poster Rex: Athens – Istanbul – Moscow – Kiev – Exhibition in Warsaw

posted by POP Members May 21, 2019

Poster Rex was founded by Markus Lange and Lars Harmsen (Slanted Publishers) in 2014 after a silkscreen print workshop in Havanna, Cuba. Throughout the following years they have held many print sessions in print studios all over the world. For each session they invite an artist or designer to create unique posters centred on a specific topic in an experimental workshop format. All posters are printed by hand with Silkscreen or with other digital and analogue techniques. Today, their collection includes over 2,000 unique posters.

For their latest project they toured to Athens, Istanbul, Moscow and Kiev to visit local designers and bring them together with designers from Poland. In this intense two week period they visited four different cities, creating posters in local silkscreen workshops. After this tour they decided to cement these intense weeks and impressions into a publication. These printed pages give a glimpse into the journey, meetings, working and the sharing of good times with local artists and poster designers from Poland.

You can catch these works at Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, from 7/6/2019 to 9/6/2019 as part of the European Design Festival 2019, in partnership with Goethe-Institut Warschau.

The exhibition includes guest artists:
Athens: Miltos Bottis (Athens) & Noviki (Warsaw)
Istanbul: Yetkin Basarır (Istanbul) & Małgorzata Gurowska (Warsaw)
Moscow: Peter Bankov (Praha) & Filip Zagórski (Warsaw)
Kyiv: Olga Tereshchenko (Kyiv) & Jakub Stępień Hakobo (Łódz)
