Vault by Vans X LQQK Studio

posted by Robyn Pitts November 17, 2020

Building on the momentum from their first collaboration with LQQK Studio in 2018, Vault by Vans is once again teaming up with the Brooklyn-based screen printing and design collective that has deep roots in art, fashion, skate and music. Founded by NYC creative Alex Dondero, along with Paul Bryant, Max Feuer, Martin Davis and Joe Garvey, LQQK Studio collaborates with a rotating cast of contributors that remain at the forefront of creative expression. Akin to Vault by Vans’ limited-run collections, LQQK Studio’s distinctive clothing line quickly gained a cult following, catching the attention of New York’s best style purveyors, music lovers and streetwear aficionados. LQQK Studio represents the convergence of street culture and high fashion, and shares Vans’ design sensibility that combines high and low.

We always want to produce items that will outlive trends and fads,” says LQQK Studio founder, Alex Dondero. “Using materials that are associated with workwear lends itself to achieving just that. There is a reason that Vans are classic and LQQK wants to have that same appeal.”

For the 2020 Holiday season, the collaborators are to release a six-shoe capsule collection, all of which feature the Circle V theme that resonated with fans so strongly in 2018. The collection is led by the OG Style 17 Mule LX in honey comb and the OG Chukka LX in burgundy, both of which nod to the resurgence of workwear in their use of colour and materials. The OG Style 17 Mule LX and OG Chukka LX also come in Splatter ink executions, as well as a natural colourway. The Vault by Vans x LQQK Studio collaboration will also include three pieces of clothing: a quarter-zip sweater, sweatpants and a long sleeved shirt with an oversized gradient throwback Vans logo.

To celebrate the launch of the new collection, NTS Radio will also be joining forces with both brands to showcase music communities and the diverse collectives who make up NYC’s underground music scene. From November 17 and continuing through November 21, there will be five consecutive NTS x LQQK Studio radio takeovers. Each day a different NYC collective will present a two hour show on NTS, run in conjunction with in-store zine printing at the Vault by Vans store in NYC on Bowery. The broadcasts will be supported by a one-off zine, A CLOSER LOOK: NYC, which will explore the vital work undertaken by the collectives featured in this collaboration.

The Vault by Vans x LQQK Studio collection will be available from 21/11/2020. Learn more here.
