Fedrigoni 365/2021

posted by Robyn Pitts December 4, 2020

Fedrigoni 365 is an annual book that asks 365 UK-based designers, illustrators and photographers to contribute a piece of work. For their most ambitious edition yet, they have gone digital, as an ode to community and togetherness. 2021’s coveted calendar project is unlike any previous, as digital printing has allowed each book to be entirely unique from cover to cover, with no two copies the same.

Through the use of cutting-edge digital printing technology by print partner Ricoh, the project is no longer limited to 365 contributors, instead inviting the industry at large to submit their own designs. Each book contains a unique collection of 365 designs, randomly collated from the hundreds of contributions. Every participating creative produced a numeric design from 1–31 (rather than a specific date), with each publication a programmatic compilation from the overall pool of submissions. As a result there was no limit on the number of creatives who took part, and eventually included just shy of 1,000 designs. Available in a limited edition of 4,000 one-offs, Fedrigoni 365/2021 was printed using Ricoh digital five colour Pro C7200X machine, with neon and CYMK inks onto a range of papers from the Fedrigoni digital collection.

The success of the Fedrigoni 365 project has been due to its focus on inclusion and positivity. Ever year the publication brings together creatives of all generations and styles in an endlessly collaborative project. It has given designers the opportunity to set their own brief, to be as creative as they can be and to see their own work on the printed page. All profits from previous editions have been donated to charity, so far raising over £15,000.
