Zach Merrill is a screen printer and graphic designer working primarily in flatstock and clothing. Currently based in Pittsburgh, PA, Zach is originally from a small town in CT and has been screen printing for over ten years. He has worked in nearly all aspects of the print industry, from large commercial print houses, to garage shops, and freelance graphic design.
Zach took all of the available design and art courses at his local community college in Connecticut, but is self-taught in screen printing. As a former touring musician he started his own small screen printing business out of his parents garage, printing merch for bands.
The printmaker’s work is inspired by comic and pop art, colour theory, and self expression, and combines screen printed elements with hand painting, spray paint, and dye work. He comments; “I’ve always had a strong need to express myself through art.” Zach combines his years of technical experience with an artists eye and unending drive to create eye catching one-of-a-kind artwork.
He plans to continue his practice as a full time artist, and open a small pop up shop in his city of Pittsburgh within the next two years.
