Under the motto “Connect, Create, Collaborate”, the established creative festival in Berlin and Vienna will bring a total of over 60 speakers to the stage.
Inspiration and Connecting as the main goal
For 9 years now the established Forward Festival has been a significant yearly event for the creative industry in the DACK area (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland). It connects the leading creatives, local heroes, and uprising young creatives from all the different fields of the industry. The festival offers a wide range of topics, from graphic design, typography, and animation to advertising, creative entrepreneurship, photography, and film. Furthermore, it supports the collaboration between the different disciplines and also the connection between the creative workfields. The Forward Festival is a great opportunity for its participants to get inspired and make new contacts in the creative industry.
In 2023 CEO and founder Othmar Handl wants to push the inspiration and exchange even further and together with his team, they take the next logical step:
“After our very successful implementation of a two-day program with two stages in Berlin, we will go even further this year. We are moving to the HKW Berlin for this, which offers us even more possibilities. At our home game in Vienna, we will, as usual, transform the city’s largest cinema hall in the Gartenbaukino into a mecca of creativity for two days.”
From A as Anthony Burrill to Y as Yuko Shimizu
The program this year is, as usual, full of highlights for every taste and interest: Ranging from international heavyweights to local heroes from the creative industry. Amongst them you will find people like the graphic designer icon Anthony Burrill, the visual-striking Baugasm, the 3D superstars Ines Alpha and Ada Sokol, the paper crafting expert Kelli Anderson, creative illustration geniuses Yuko Shimizu, Aurelia Durand & Malika Favre, visual multi-talent Alice Isaac and many more will take the microphone and inspire the crowd. More speaker announcements will follow in the next upcoming weeks, but over 60 talks from creatives are to be expected.
Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW) creates a forum for contemporary arts and critical debates. In its extraordinary, modernist congress-hall architecture, HKW enables new forms of encounter and opens up experiential spaces between art and discourse. Together with artists, academics, everyday experts, and partners across the globe, it explores ideas in the making and shares them with Berlin’s international audience and the digital public. 2023 the Forward Festival will be one of the unforgettable moments of the HKW Berlin and offers the speakers the perfect stage and its attendees a unique atmosphere with many side-events and happenings. In Vienna, the Gartenbaukino doesn’t need a special announcement, since 2016 it is a fixed part of the history of the Forward Festival. With its big Cinema hall and the huge screen, it’s the perfect place to show-off our creative masterminds. And along the way, visitors can enjoy the time-honored premises of the cinema, which shine in new splendor after extensive restoration, and participate in numerous side events and workshops.
