Gina, the creative behind Ridge + Roots, has recently announced the 5th round of #blockpartywithgina; a 5 week creative art challenge starting October 3rd. Though primarily aimed at printmakers, this bi-annual challenge is open to all artists. Gina originally started Block Party to help build community, connect, and interact with other printmakers, and is excited to host another round.
Since this is a virtual challenge, participating is easy no matter your skill level or location. To participate, create one block (or any artwork) per week and post using the hashtag. If you can’t make a week – don’t sweat it! It’s all about coming together at whatever capacity your schedule allows. For those who like a bit more structure, there’s also an optional prompt list to help spark ideas.
During #blockpartywithgina participants naturally browse the hashtag and engage with fellow participants, but there is also an optional discord chat. Participants can get to know each other, ask questions, and receive troubleshooting/tips and tricks. Due to popular demand, this round will also feature a (optional) print exchange.
Weekly giveaways from Flexcut Tools and Speedball Art also add to the fun and excitement! Gina says; “We are so fortunate to have love and support from both Flexcut and Speedball, and I am always grateful for their generosity throughout Block Party! They never disappoint!”
