Based in Wiltshire, UK, Mollie Pearce is a linocut artist currently studying Fine Art at Bath Spa University. Mollie has just finished her second year, where she has been specialising in printmaking, in parcitular, reduction lino print.

She was introduced to the craft of reduction print during her first year of university, only having done small bits of printmaking prior to that at school. This discovery happened just before lockdown, which provided time for Mollie to become familiar with the reduction method and learn the basic techniques while at home. She used equipment such as books to make presses, and spoons to print her works, before returning to university and learning more about working with presses. Since then, Mollie has have been exploring more techniques and looking at ways to improve her printing and overall end image.

Mollie’s prints focus on the landscapes and towns of Dorset, inspired by the holidays she took there as a child, and the beautiful views she admired. Her style reflects the influence of 1930s railway posters, utilising bold and picturesque images which are vacant of modern aspects and people, instead putting the focus on the scenery.

Soon to start her third and final year of university, we can’t wait to see what’s in store for this emerging printmaker!
