Anna Francis is a Bristol-based printmaker. She was born in Derbyshire, and after completing a photography degree at Nottingham Trent University went on to study an MA in Interactive Multimedia at Bath Spa University. Here, she began to explore the use of digital drawing which she uses in her work today. All contour lines in her work are hand drawn digitally in Illustrator and Photoshop before being transferred to the screen printing frame. Anna’s finished screen prints are all unique, one-off experimental pieces.

Although her work began as a study of man-made forms within the landscape, Anna is now primarily inspired by natural contours and the formation of land and water, using maps as a starting point of reference. Her work is a celebration of nature’s raw and delicate beauty.

She recently finished a commission to produce four unique monoprints: Glacier D’Argentiere (France), Mount Kilimanjaro (Africa), Mount Greylock (USA), and Mount Weissfluhjoch (Switzerland), and is currently working on monoprints of Glen Coe (Scotland) and Kinder Scout (Derbyshire UK).
