Vetro Editions

Founded by graphic designer Luca Bendandi, Vetro Editions is a publishing house based in Berlin. Supported by an international network of collaborators from the disciplines of graphic design, typography, architecture, journalism, art, and fashion, Vetro offers a complete range of services; staying ahead of the curve with cutting-edge design and content, as well as innovative editorial strategies encompassing production, promotion, and distribution.

With an emphasis on new printing techniques, Vetro’s work focuses on analogue after digital. Bestselling works include Analogue Photography, an award-winning reference manual on how to use a film camera; Risomania, the first publication to extensively document the contemporary Riso-printing community; and Silkscreen Masters, a guide to the popular and versatile printing technique, featuring tips and tricks from printers at the forefront of their craft.

In recent years, Vetro has been positioning itself as a leading reference point in the field of generative art, and digital art more broadly. 2023 saw the publication of Tracing the Line, focusing on the use of pen plotters and custom-made drawing machines in art. It features the work of more than 100 international artists, and is the second volume in the A.R.E series: books that use augmented reality to fuse the digital dimension of generative art with the physical form of a book.

Vetro also offer tailored catalogues for artists: Meridian has recently been released in its second edition after the incredible success of the first one. It presents a generative art project by the same name, created by the artist Matt DesLauriers whose work explores using code as a creative medium. The book showcases his work in vivid and richly printed detail, alongside essays, technical breakdowns, code examples, and large-format spreads.

In the pipeline for the new year is Pathways, a collaborative effort with the generative artist Julien Gachadoat. It is a concept book-artwork that, in its complete form, is the first of its kind. 121 unique covers make up an installation of 11 x 11 books. When placed together, they reveal the topography of a fictional map created from imaginary geometric landscapes and abstract parametric urban areas. This fusion of algorithms, coding, and book-making represents a remarkable milestone in both the generative art and publishing worlds.
