Poster Rex – What is Left of Woodstock, 50 Years After the Festival

posted by POP Members July 16, 2019

At the end of June, Poster Rex’s designers Markus Lange and Lars Harmsen were invited to a Risograph Jam Session at the Riso Druckerei drucken3000 in Berlin. llustrators Katia Fouquet and Frank Höhne as well as the Berlin based graphic designer Ariane Spanier were also involved.

Over two nights the theme; ‘Woodstock – What is left 50 years after the festival’, was explored in a playful and experimental way. There were 36 basic motifs which all designers playfully and uniquely combined with 36 different colours. The experiment, the coincidence, and the play with motifs and colour were the main focus of all the designers. Over the two night sessions, nearly 800 prints were created. The prints will be shown at an exhibition in Berlin this autumn.

POSTER REX was founded in 2014 by the graphic designers Lars Harmsen and Markus Lange from Studio Farn. For each session, they invite an artist to create unique posters, produced in different silkscreen workshops around the globe. All posters are silkscreen printed by hand or with other digital or analogue techniques. Each session has its own topic. POSTER REX also offers workshops for students. Today, the collection counts over 2,000 unique posters.
