Illustrator Sandrine Anne Sautejeau began this series of zodiac postcards in spring 2019 as a personal project for her Instagram account. Every month she posts a new illustration to her feed featuring one of the twelve zodiac signs which she later transforms into a Riso print.
The first six signs were created in a postcard format of 10×15 cms in the medium of a four colour Risograph, printed at Chilean printmaking studio La Mano Ediciones. The postcards are a collaborative effort; Sandrine creates the illustrations and prepares the files for Riso printing, and Daniela Poch (from La Mano Ediciones) handles the technical parts of the printmaking and adjusts the files in order to ensure the best outcome. Each design was laid out so that the complete set will fit on an A3 acid-free woven paper sheet.
On finding her inspiration for the series, Sandrine explains; “I have always been interested in the imagery that comes from the zodiac signs and wanted to make my own series. People are actively waiting and really like to see the results of their own zodiac sign being illustrated and brought to life through Risography“.
The second part of the zodiac Riso series will be printed when the six remaining designs are completed by the end of this year.
