Happily Planners

Happily Planners have been producing boldly designed wall planners for the last 3 years, and are back for 2024 with some stunning new designs. For 2024, they have released 2 planners. The first is a tried and tested design from last year, and the second is a new rainbow piece, which is proving very popular.

Simon Avery, Happily Planners’ founder, was inspired to start creating his own planner design after purchasing one a few years back and finding it an essential for family life. With a background in Graphic Design, designing his own seemed like a no-brainer. Simon states; “It’s kinda a dream project for a typography obsessed designer like myself, and best of all, I’m the client”.

The design process is quite a simple one, or as Simon describes it; “a bit self indulgent”, as he design planners that he’d love to have on his own wall. The chosen fonts and colours are some of his favourites at the time, but paper is also vitally important to the process too. Last years’ planners were printed on GF Smith Colorplan, but this year they have moved over to Fedrigoni Arena White Smooth. “Its great for colour, and its also lovely to write on, key for a planner,” says Simon.

All of the designs are meticulously designed and trialled. Each year, Simon creates between 5 and 10 designs to artwork, has them all proofed, and then pops them up on the studio wall and stares at them for a few days. He then refines around 5 designs and shares them with the shops that stock them, and some of his repeat customers, to see which are most popular.
