Keep Pubs Pumping

posted by Robyn Pitts May 27, 2020

Pubs; they’re at the heart of our community and culture. The places we head into after work to dissect and forget our day. Where drinks are spilled, quizzes are lost and memories are made. However, faced by the current crisis, our pubs are at risk, and without support many will be lost for good. They will be some of the last businesses to reopen post-lockdown, and many can’t access government relief schemes.

Keep Pubs Pumping is a new project that aims to support our pubs in their hour of need. In partnership with some of their favourite locals including The Dove on Broadway Market, The Star of Bethnal Green, The Glory in Haggerston, and The Blue Posts in Soho, and a bunch of awesome designers from across the country, Keep Pubs Pumping have created a line of limited edition tees and totes from which all the profits from their sale will go direct to pubs.

The project was started by Louisa, Rebecca, Danny and Josh; four workmates who love (and miss) a pint and a gossip. When they realised their favourite places to hydrate and unwind after work were going to be some of the worst affected businesses during the pandemic they wanted to help out.

When it was announced pubs would be one of the last businesses to re-open, we wanted to find a way to show solidarity with our local whilst closed. The more we spoke to mates, we found many others felt the same way but didn’t know what they could do. So, Keep Pubs Pumping was born.” Louisa Saddington, Keep Pubs Pumping

The team have handpicked some of their favourite spots to launch with, and will be adding new pubs to their site each week. Each pub is paired with graphic designers and illustrators who design a bespoke tee and tote inspired by the pub. The profits go directly to the specific pub who’s item has been purchased.

Let’s spread the pub love and Keep Pubs Pumping!
