The Dafi Kühne Printing Show is a series of free educational letterpress printing videos by poster designer, educator, and letterpress printer Dafi Kühne. Hot off the press, Dafi shares his most secret printing recipes so that you can start cooking up your own letterpress prints!
Between 2018 and 2020 Dafi has produced over 10 episodes documenting his black magic printing skills in his entertaining Swiss Cowboy style. Besides the fun approach and the cooking show setting, each episode documents one of Dafi’s fascinating ways of working, bringing dusty letterpress technology into the 21st Century. Dafi is certainly a maker, from concept to finish, he even composed and recorded the soundtrack with his band. The programme is award winning, with then Printing Show being awarded by TDC Tokyo 2021 in the video category.
In the brilliant 2020 Christmas Special (Episode 11), Santa Claus demonstrates and explains how Dafi creates his posters using lettepress reglets and furniture which are normally used to fill and lock-up printing forms. Dafi says; “Well I couldn’t be there, but Santa did a great job replacing me, and I just felt after a quite weird and annoying year, after we all think we’ve seen it all, we all could use a fun episode to kill 2020.”
