Cardiff-based printmaker and designer Laura Solteys caught our eye with her whimsical screenprints composed of punky pinks, abstract shapes and patterns fused with an iconic swoosh that helps you recognise her work from any distance. We caught her with her to find out a little more about what inspires her and what she loves the most about screenprinting.

Laura: Screen printing is very much an intuitive process for me, often starting with just a few abstract shapes and allowing the prints to naturally take form as I work. My passion for all things bold and colourful is key to my style; a bit of hot pink is ALWAYS welcome. The current print series I’ve been working on consists of experimental, playful compositions that hope to add a splash of fun and colour to your day.

Her love for print flourished during her final year of university whilst being tutored by print artist Kate Gibb. Her experimental method to printing was something Laura was truly inspired by and pushed her to develop her own print practice further. As well as Laura’s own printmaking, she also works collaboratively with course mates Emily Westcar and Chloe Swayne as part of Limbo Studio. Together, they make up an image making collective, with a passion for illustration, printmaking, and packaging.

We adored the work of Laura Soltey’s so much, we added her stunning prints to our curated marketplace — Department Store. Shop her collection below.
