The Summer electric! We’re excited to present the debut solo show by POP Member and abstract artist Zoe Anker. Taking place from May 21st through to June 6th 2021 at BSMT Space, bask in the glow of Zoe’s bright and geometric floral explosions that evoke the shapes and feel of this magnificent season.
Utilising her strong passion for the juxtaposition of colour, geometric shape, and mark making, Electric Bloom is a worthy introduction to Zoe’s work. Conveying the essence and memories of the season with deconstructed palms, vivid colours, and botanical imagery, the exhibition transports the viewer to the heights of summer. This imagery is layered with her signature fusion of neon yellow, pink, and orange, resulting in sharp and vibrant pieces, often off-set by a high-spec resin finish. The show will also reveal experimental colour gradients across large and small scale works.
“The timing of my upcoming show couldn’t have been more perfect, from a personal perspective. It was announced at the end of January: nothing was going on due to more lockdowns and I was enduring the second bout of home-schooling my two children which, like most parents, I was at the end of my tether with. Over the next twelve weeks of working my socks off within my home studio, ‘Electric Bloom’slowly emerged. It was great to have such a strong focus; I immersed myself in a creative bubble and quite literally shut myself away from what was going on in the rest of the world.”
Electric Bloom opens with a private view on Thursday May 20th from 5pm – 9pm and will run from May 21st to June 6th.
