Atelier Burano

posted by Amber Weaver January 8, 2019

We caught up with founder of screenprinting studio Atelier Burano is Pablo Rugiero , a visual artist, graphic designer and printmaker born in Argentina. After graduating from the University of Buenos Aires, he took a huge leap and re-located to Europe where he studied and participated in several workshops related to graphic art and traditional printmaking techniques. Having lived for some time specifically in Copenhagen, this is where Pablo began to be influenced by the Scandinavian democratic idea of art.

In 2016 he moved back to Buenos Aires and founded Atelier Burano, a studio dedicated to producing and promoting the work of both national and international artists. The studio aims to bring art to the people through high quality reproductions and at the same time accessible and affordable to everyone.

One of their most recent projects, produced in 2018, is a new project titled “Habitat construido”. This project explores the the production and exhibition of a series of works printed by the studio. The project has as a transversal axis that analyses the urban layout of the city of Buenos Aires. Its defining buildings and the spaces, the streets, public spaces and street furniture are fundamental references for the project as they help identify the characteristic structures of the city and its surroundings; through its transformations, interrelations and social processes.

The series has the participation and collaboration of five artists, inhabitants of the city, from different nationalities whose selection has been made based on their career, artistic production and conceptual affinity with the project. The participating artists are: Jorge Pomar (Argentina), Juan Pinkus (Argentina), Antonin Hako (France), Mario Felipe (Chile) and Pablo Rugiero (Argentina).
