posted by POP Members March 6, 2024

Studio Kars + Boom have just unveiled a brand new collection of one hundred unique prints to celebrate the centenary of the Rietveld Schröder House, an iconic landmark and architectural highlight of Utrecht, The Netherlands.

This special series is a tribute to the iconic architectural work of Gerrit Rietveld, with each of the unique prints symbolising an abstracted representation of the details of the house. Within every print is a poetic depiction of the experience of a stroll through the Rietveld Schröder House, inviting the viewer to discover the nuances and subtleties of the house. With playfulness and wonder at the heart of Studio Kars + Boom’s approach to any work they do, for this project they once again drew upon this, focusing on the playfulness and functionality of the house.

With respect for the hundred-year history of the Rietveld Schröder House, Studio Kars + Boom have created an artistic ode that also embraces the architect’s philosophy that art should be accessible to everyone.

The 100-piece series is digitally printed, and features a handwritten signature and embossed stamp, making each print an authentic and affordable piece of art.

Kevin Kars, one half of the creative duo behind Studio Kars + Boom emphasises Rietveld’s vision of accessibility: “Gerrit Rietveld strongly believed in the accessibility of art for the general public. With this print series, we aim to uphold that vision and provide enthusiasts with the opportunity to bring a unique piece of heritage into their homes.” This vision is in line with Studio Kars + Boom’s perspective on the necessity of accessibility in art and design. As a studio, they are committed to demystifying art and presenting it as a universal language that everyone can understand and appreciate.

These prints will soon be available at the Rietveld Schröder House, allowing enthusiasts the opportunity to bring a unique piece of the Rietveld Schröder House into their homes.
