Stendig V Calendar

Massimo Vignelli’s Stendig Calendar is a design classic, and the only calendar to feature in the permanent collection of MoMA. Vignelli designed the calendar in 1965, and it has been produced every year in the same imposing size: 120 x 90cm.

This year, the legendary company have launched The V Calendar (V for Vertical), the Stendig calendar’s little brother. Developed by Beatriz Cifuentes and Yoshiki Waterhouse, the calendar is a modern reinterpretation of the Stendig’s iconic aesthetic. Waterhouse and Cifuentes were longtime collaborators of Vignelli before his death in 2014, working closely with him as leading partners in his design firm Vignelli Associates.

The V Calendar’s design channels the Stendig’s signature style into a compact format, laying out all 365 days of the year onto a single sheet and deploying Vignelli’s signature tightly kerned Helvetica. Mondays are highlighted in super warm red (one of Massimo’s favourite colours) to mark the start of the week. The 2022 launch edition is made up of black numbers on a white sheet; however, every year the colour combinations will change.

Its condensed, vertical format, running 41.3 x 97.5 cm, is designed to fit most spaces in the home, from the fridge door to the office wall, and beyond. The calendar is topped by a triple-folder header for extra structure, and supplied with 3M hanging strips.
